Taron Egerton, who is better than this material and needs a better agent, is a TSA agent blackmailed into letting a suspicious bag through airport security on Christmas Eve. Netflix seems to be inviting comparisons to Die Hard, which is unfair, but if they insist: it has none of the wit and humour and joy and fun of Die Hard, the tone is completely different (going for gritty and grounded), and obviously it’s going to be worse because come on. Taken on its own merits this is enjoyable enough, Taron Egerton is great, Jason Bateman is excellent, the action is solid, it’s a bit overlong and doesn’t make much sense but it’s fine. Just don’t expect greatness. It’s also not really a Christmas movie: other than being set on Christmas Eve, Christmas is of no relevance to the story.
