I went in with low expectations which were blown out of the water: the leads have chemistry, the comic relief sidekick B-plot is both funny and smoothly integrated into the finale, and it’s the best-executed example of “he lied about everything but we fell in love anyway” genre I’ve seen (which might sound like damning with faint praise – and it is! – but also it does at least work character-wise which is more you can say of most films like this).
